Fourth Dragon - Adjusting the Monitor Height

Home Free. Hays in the barn now. Fat lady's singing.

Attached the arm stand to the desk and finished assembling the arm. Woo hoo, look at that baby!

That's what I'm talkin' about!

Except...

It's two inches above the desk. When I push it to the desktop, it just lifts back up. All that effort, and I only got one inch lower than the original stand? Say what?

Axiom
When comparison shopping on Amazon, realize that "weight" means shipping weight.

Amazon's weight spec for the PA328QV is 25.3 lbs., which puts it 8 pounds over the 17 lb. maximum weight for the non-HD version of the Freedom Arm, and comfortably below the 30.8 pound limit for the HD Freedom Arm.

Asus' spec for the weight of the PA328QV is

Net Weight with Stand : 11.5 Kg (25.3 lbs. ...)

Net Weight without Stand : 7 Kg

Let's see, 7 Kg is ... 15.4 lbs. ! Uh oh. That's below the maximum weight for the non-HD arm, and too light for the HD arm. My monitor isn't heavy enough for the HD arm!

OTOH, the arm probably needs that heavier mount for the wide screen to keep it from rotating.

I am NOT taking this thing apart and trying to return it.

Solution:

Ankle Weights. Turns out 7.5 lbs. is just perfect.

Ok. I know it looks a bit wobbly, but I ordered a better ankle weight from amazon that's all in one piece, and I can strap it around the arm.

It's a win. Not a pretty win. But it's still a win...
